Empolese Valdelsa
Limite
Limite is situated along the river Arno. Probably there was already a river-port at time of the Etruscans. The shipping trade was very important for this town and the captains of Limite were famous for their professionalism of shipping goods. In 1861 the first row association of Italy was founded in this town. Nowadays this association is still very succesful. Although Limite is situated quite far from the sea, shipyards were built along the river. Today these shipyards can be found at the coast.Twice a year there is a town celebration and row competitions are organized between the various districts: Palio di San Lorenzo on the third Sunday of July and Palio con la Montata on the third Sunday of September.
Capraia
Capraia is situated at the lower part of the Montalbano (mountain). The town is surrounded by vineyards, oliveyards and woods. The wall ruins of Barco Reale, situated in the part of territory which extends over the Montalbano, call to mind Medici memoirs; Medici family used this zone as a game-preserve between the 16th and 17th century. A good network of trekking paths, which makes this place ideal for those keen on excursions and walks, spreads over all the area of the Montalbano. In the town of Capraia you can find wall ruins of the Barco Reale.
